Two Records in the same field!
Jerry Fuller of Marvell, AR cut 200 acres of USG
74E88 that averaged 94.5 bushels per acre. The field was planted
on May
27th with a population of 120,000 plants. They were planted on twin
7.5" rows 38" apart. The seed was treated with ApronMaxx,
Cruiser, and Percplus.
74E88 is a new group 4 maturity bean that has excellent
yield potential. It is a stacked bean with STS and RR resistance. The
bean carries the C Phytophthora Gene and has good SDS tolerance. The
seed was purchased from Fuller Seed in Poplar Grove, AR.
"Best soybeans I ever saw. We knew
they were good from the middle of august on. They had pods set from
the top of my head to the ground” said grower Jerry Fuller. Robert
Goodson was the county agent that measured acres and weighed the plot.

That is not all this field yeilded!
A possible record buck was harvested Saturday
the 15th. Davis Smith from Whitehall, AR took this behemoth when it
showed itself around lunch time opening day of Arkansas Gun Season.
The monster weighed a little under 400 pounds field dressed. It is a
giant 5 X 5 with 14 kicker points for a total of 24 points. This non-typical
has a green score is 203 1/2.

USG 3665 Wins VA Yield Contest
Chuck McGhee won 1st place in the Virginia Grain Producers Association
State Yield Contest with USG 3665. Mr. McGhee was also the area 3 winner.
Mr. Jason Benton won 3rd place in area 3 with USG 3665.
2007-2008 Test Results
Almost all the State Variety Test locations that USG tests in
have reported. We test our wheat varieties in 15 different states to
make sure it is adapted to your area. Click here

is USG 3555 winning the North Louisiana test with 78.3 Bu./ac. The South
Mississippi variety test was won by USG 3295. Second went to USG 3592
and 3rd to USG 3555. North Carolina was won with USG 3725 followed by
USG 3209 in 2nd and USG 3555 in 3rd. USG 3555 was the overall winner
in Tennessee's State Variety trial.

Drawing Winners
The Memphis Farm and Gin show winners were Tim Bivens Dyersburg,
TN and John Malone form Athens AL. Congratulations to the The Southern
Farm Show in Raleigh's three winners of USG logo Carhartt Jackets. Allen
Rivenbark of Wallace, NC, Kevin Roberts of Lumberton, NC, and Steven
Pittman of Elbron, VA. Congratulations also to Steven Stancill of Greeneville,
NC for winning the grand prize of a GPS Navigation system.
USG Welcomes Lumpkins Farms as new Licensee
Lumpkins farms is located in Leonard in the North-Eastern part
of Texas approximately 80 miles NE of Dallas. They have been in business
for approximately 40 years in the Fannin and Hunt County areas. Lumpkins
Farms is the largest producer of Wheat and Corn in Fannin County and
Ronnie Lumpkins is also a former “Farmer of the Year” recipient
for Fannin County. Meanwhile son, Brad Lumpkins, is an up and coming
farmer for the business and daughter, Lana Lumpkins, is handling the
operations / accounting side of the business. Ronnie is on the board
of directors for the Cereal Crops Research Institute associated with
the Texas A&M – Commerce Ag Department. The farm has been
conducting on-site wheat variety trials for over 10 years working with
the Director of the Agricultural Sciences Department, Dr. Don Reid,
as well as the Staff entomologist, Jim Swart. This gives USG 36 Producers
in 14 East Coast and South East states!
